Jampui Hills Tour Packages
Experience the Quiet Landscapes of Jampui Hills
Our Jampui Hills tour packages are designed for travellers looking beyond Tripura’s palaces and temples to experience green valleys, cool hill air, village life and wide sunrise and sunset views. Located in North Tripura near the Mizoram border, Jampui is the state’s highest hill range and one of its most peaceful nature destinations.
The region is known for Vanghmun village, seasonal orange orchards, orchids, forested slopes and the culture of local Mizo and Reang communities. Because Jampui Hills are roughly 200 to 220 kilometres from Agartala, the destination is best planned as an overnight trip rather than a rushed day excursion.
Why Visit Jampui Hills?
Jampui Hills offer a slower and more personal travel experience than a conventional hill station. There are no crowded promenades or large commercial centres. The main attractions are the landscape, the villages, the climate and the opportunity to spend time in a less-visited part of Northeast India.
Village Life and Local Culture
Several villages are spread across the hill range. Visitors can observe traditional settlement patterns, local churches, gardens and everyday rural life. Travel should remain respectful, especially when photographing residents, homes or community spaces.
Orange Orchards and Orchids
Jampui has long been associated with orange cultivation. Orchard conditions and the harvest vary from year to year, so oranges should be treated as a seasonal experience rather than a guaranteed attraction. The hills are also recognised for orchids and other flowering plants.
A Natural Extension from Unakoti
Jampui Hills combine particularly well with Unakoti. One destination offers archaeological rock carvings and Shaivite heritage, while the other provides mountain scenery, village stays and a relaxed rural environment.
Private Jampui Hills Tours with Tusk Travel
Tusk Travel can arrange private transport, accommodation, railway or airport transfers and a well-paced northern Tripura route. Your trip can be adjusted around available nights, road conditions, accommodation preferences and the interests of your group.

Suggested 3-Day Jampui Hills Itinerary
Agartala to Jampui Hills
Leave Agartala early and travel north with suitable meal and rest breaks. Continue through Kanchanpur toward Vanghmun.
Check in and enjoy the evening landscape or sunset if arrival time allows.
Vanghmun and Jampui Exploration
Begin with sunrise views, followed by breakfast and a relaxed village walk. Visit suitable viewpoints, gardens or orchard areas according to the season.
Spend another night in the hills to avoid turning the day into a long transfer.
Return or Continue to Unakoti
After breakfast, begin the return to Agartala or continue toward Kailashahar and Unakoti for a northern Tripura heritage extension.
The onward route should be chosen according to road conditions and available nights.
How to Reach Jampui Hills
By Air
Fly to Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala and continue by private road transport to North Tripura and Jampui Hills.
By Train
Dharmanagar is the most useful major railway point for many travellers. Continue by road through Kanchanpur toward the hills.
By Road
A private vehicle is the most practical choice because roads are hilly and local public transport may not match sightseeing schedules.
Best Time to Visit Jampui Hills
October to March
Generally the best period for cooler weather, village walks and clearer hill views. Late autumn and winter may coincide with orange harvesting.
April to June
The hills can remain more comfortable than the plains, but humidity and changing weather should still be expected.
July to September
Monsoon creates lush scenery and clouds, but heavy rain, reduced visibility and road conditions can affect travel plans.
Jampui Hills Travel Tips
- Reserve accommodation before leaving Agartala or Dharmanagar.
- Carry essential medicines and personal items because shops are limited.
- Keep warm layers for cooler mornings and evenings.
- Carry rain protection outside the driest travel months.
- Begin road journeys early and avoid unnecessary night driving.
- Ask permission before photographing residents or private homes.
- Do not enter orchards or gardens without the owner’s approval.
- Keep the villages clean and take non-biodegradable waste away.
Do Not Plan Jampui as a Rushed Day Trip
The long distance from Agartala and the final hilly approach make a same-day return tiring. Staying at least two nights gives you time to enjoy the landscape rather than spending most of the trip inside a vehicle.
Road times should remain flexible because weather, traffic and local conditions can change.
Places to Combine with Jampui Hills
Unakoti
Explore monumental Shaivite rock carvings, forest paths and seasonal waterfalls near Kailashahar.
Dharmanagar
Use this northern town for railway connections, overnight stays and onward road travel toward Jampui or Unakoti.
Agartala
Begin or end the journey with Ujjayanta Palace, museums, temples and Tripura’s principal transport connections.
Combine Hills with Palaces, Temples and Archaeology
Jampui Hills add a nature and village dimension to a Tripura itinerary. A longer route can begin in Agartala, continue to Neermahal and Udaipur, then travel north to Unakoti and Jampui Hills.
Travellers with more time can also include Chabimura, creating a varied route through Tripura’s royal, spiritual, archaeological and natural landscapes.
Allow 7 to 10 Days for a Complete Route
This duration gives enough time for Agartala, southern Tripura and the long northern journey to Unakoti and Jampui Hills without excessive daily driving.
