VietJet Air and Vietnam Airlines to Increase more Flights to India from March 26

Vietjet will resume operating six flights between India and Vietnam.

As the global aviation industry contends with the ramifications of the COVID-19 pandemic, airlines are seeking novel opportunities to tap into. India has emerged as a profitable market for global carriers, given its expanding travel demands and an escalating middle-class populace who can bear the costs of overseas travel.

Vietnam Airlines and VietJet Air, two major carriers in Vietnam, are in stiff competition for increased air travel between the two nations.

Flights between Vietnam and India

VietJet Air, a privately-owned airline, is aiming to operate flights from four Vietnamese cities to five Indian destinations. As a rejoinder, Vietnam Airlines has hiked its flight services to India by 30% commencing from March 26. The airline presently offers five flights per week between the two nations, with daily flights to New Delhi on the horizon.

After the pandemic outbreak, Vietnam Airlines resumed operations in India in June last year, with three weekly flights from Hanoi and two from Ho Chi Minh City to New Delhi.

The airline is expanding its flight schedule, adding one daily flight from Hanoi to Delhi four times per week and one from Ho Chi Minh three times per week.

Vietnam Airlines will now operate an equivalent number of flights to Delhi as its low-cost competitor, VietJet Air. Moreover, VietJet Air operates three flights from Hanoi and four from Ho Chi Minh City with reversed frequencies.

Flight Schedule

Both the Hanoi-Delhi and HCMC-Delhi routes will be serviced by Vietnam Airlines’ Airbus A321 aircraft. These planes have 168 regular economy class seats in a 3-3 configuration and 16 business class reclining seats in a 2-2 configuration.

The flight from Vietnam to India’s capital city, which spans five hours, takes off between 6 and 7 p.m. and arrives around 10 p.m. The return flight departs from Delhi before midnight and arrives in Vietnam between 6 and 7 a.m. the following morning. Vietnam Airlines also intends to begin operations between Ho Chi Minh City and Mumbai later this year.

Special Roundtrip Fare

Vietnam Airlines has unveiled special roundtrip economy class fares commencing at VND7 million or Rs 24,366 including taxes and fees for departures from Vietnam, to mark the resumption of flights. Travelers utilizing the new routes from India to Vietnam will witness lower prices beginning at Rs 23,950.
