‘Maitri Bus Sewa’ service between Delhi and Kathmandu (Nepal) will resume shortly

Good News coming for India – Nepal travellers, If the COVID situation improves, the Delhi Transport Corporation has declared preparations to begin Maitri Bus Sewa between Delhi and Nepal. The bus service between the two nations was established a few years ago, but it was halted owing to the global epidemic that struck in March 2020.

According to the agency, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) official stated that no timetable has been set for the restoration of services. The official further stated that DTC intends to present its suggestions to the Ministry of External Affairs in this regard (MEA). If the request is granted, the services will be restored as soon as possible.

According to R.S. Minhas, DTC’s Deputy Chief General Manager (Traffic & Public Relations),“DTC is doing its part to restart bus services but as they were suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so to restart the services, DTC would need to have the final consent from the MEA. Once the approval comes, there will be no delay from DTC’s side.”

The Delhi-Kathmandu bus is a trans-border bus service that connects the capital cities of both nations. DTC began operating the buses in 2014, and they travel a distance of 1250 kilometers in 30 hours. The buses depart from the Ambedkar Stadium bus terminal in Delhi and arrive at the Kathmandu bus station near the Pashupatinath Temple in Nepal.

The route passes via Agra (via the Yamuna Expressway), Firozabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, and Gorakhpur in India. Customs checks are conducted at the Sunauli border. The bus passes via Tilottama, Rupandehi, Kawasoti, and Narayangadh in Nepal.
