To this end, Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has said the Mathura and Vrindavan would be linked via cruise services along the Yamuna will be built. This decision comes from the promotion of religious tourism in the region.
The Minister said that the experience of travelling by cruise ship would attract visitors to Agra to go to Mathura. At a recently held event at Shankaracharya Ashram, Govardhan, the Minister, spoke about this when he responded to Shankaracharya Deo Tirth’s question on how the Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways was making to increase tourism in the region.
Sonwal said his opinion that Gokul, Mathura, and Vrindavan will be linked by creating waterways on the Yamuna and further stated that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently had a meeting with Sonwal to discuss the plan.
