Day 2 :Thimphu

We start the day with an excursion to visit the Memorial Chorten, a huge stupa built-in memory of the third king of Bhutan. The Corten Memorial is one of the most visible religious structures in Thimphu and for many people, it is the focus where they worship daily.

Later we will visit Changangkha Lhakhang. Later we will be driven to BBS Tower  (Bhutan  Broadcasting Service) overlooking the tower and we will enjoy the breathtaking views of the entire city of Thimphu.

On the way back we will stop at the mini Takin zoo. The Takin is the national animal of Bhutan. Then we will visit a paper factory and continue with the visit to Tashichhodzong, the seat of the royal government and summer residence of the main Abbot and the monks. Transfer to the hotel. Night in Thimphu.

Day 3 :Thimpu - Punakha (71 kms)

We have an early breakfast and leave for the beautiful Punakha Valley.

On the way, we will stop at Dochula Pass, a beautiful mountain pass at 3140 m. with the fluttering of their prayer flags and their spectacular set of 108 miniature chorten.

On the way, we will visit Chimi Lhakhang, an auspicious fertility temple built by the famous divine madman Lama Drukpa Kuenley. It is a beautiful 30-minute walk between rice fields and typical Bhutanese houses.

Later we will visit Wangdi Phodrang city and return to Punakha.

Arrival at the hotel and night in Punakha.

Day 4 :Punakha - Paro

In the morning we will visit the Khamsun Yule Chorten and we will be driven to Paro.

In the afternoon we will see the Paro Rinpung Dzong, "the fortress of the jewel moss" and the Ta Dzong, the National Museum of Bhutan. Night in Paro.

Day 5 :Visit Paro Valley

The highlight of the day is the walk (4 hours) to one of the most revered pilgrimage centers in Bhutan, the Taktsang Goemba, commonly known as "the tiger's nest".

According to legend, Guru Rinpoche miraculously flew here on the back of a tigress, meditated in the cave for three months, and converted the entire Paro valley to Buddhism. Resting 900m above the valley, Taktsang is an architectural marvel and the spectacular 4-hour walk will be our most overwhelming experience.

Transfer to visit Drukgyel Dzong (ruined fortress about 17 km from the city), built-in 1647 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to commemorate his victory against the Tibetans in 1644.

Drukgyel means "fortress of the victorious Drukpas". The Dzong, with a delightful village nestled at its feet and the Mount of Jomulhari, appearing like a tiny drop is an inspiring sight.
