India's largest numbers of caves are in Maharashtra. There are caves in Maharashtra that date as far back as the 1st century BC. In the Aurangabad district, Ellora is the best example of the experiments Buddhists, Hindus, and Jain priests had carried out while making these massive and amazing caves.
It is fascinating to see the sculptures in these caves. In this district, there are also other caves, which are a few kilometers away from the famous Bibi-Ka-Maqbara.
After arriving in Mumbai, you will be transferred to your hotel. Once you've checked in, you can relax.
The day is free for you to enjoy. You'll spend the night in the hotel.
Following breakfast, we will proceed for a sightseeing tour of Mumbai, drive to the Gateway of India, and from here take the motorboat (optional) to Elephanta Caves. Of the 9 magnificent sculptures, the Trimurthi, or triple-headed Shiva, is the most famous, where God is represented as both destroyer and preserver.
In the afternoon, visit the Prince of Wales Museum, Parliament House, Marine Drive, Jain Temple, and Hanging Gardens. Later, return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Note: Every Monday, Elephanta Caves and the Prince of Wales museum are closed.
We will check out of our hotel in Mumbai after breakfast and travel to the airport to catch our flight to Aurangabad. Upon arrival, we will be transferred to our hotel.
Later, we will explore Aurangabad for half a day. From south to north, there are 34 caves - 12 Buddhist (Ad 600-800) and 17 Hindu (around AD 900). They are numbered according to their location.
Following relaxation, visit Daulatabad Fort & Bibi ka Maqbara (the tomb of Begum Rabia Durani). Stay overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, explore the Ellora Caves, one of India's most visited World Heritage Sites.
In addition to 34 monasteries and temples, the area contains some uninterrupted monuments dating from 600 to 1000 AD.
Ellora is home to temples dedicated to Brahmanism, Jainism, and Buddhism. There are also some excellent stone carvings depicting Shiva legends.
Return to your hotel after visiting the temple.
Visit the famous Ajanta Caves after breakfast. One of India's architectural and historical marvels, Ajanta is the oldest and largest temple in the country.
Ajanta caves tell the story of Buddhism in this region from 200 BC to 650 AD. Overnight in Aurangabad.
The following morning, After breakfast, check out of the hotel and depart for Mumbai via Pune.
Upon arrival in Mumbai, the guest is transferred to the airport for the onward flight.
