How to apply for Visa in India

If you are planning to visit a foreign country, then you will need a visa to travel. There are certain regulations related to an application for Visa and one has to comply with all. Some countries have started on arrival Visa at airports itself. Visa is also required if you want to visit any of the 66 countries of the world.

Types of Visas which are required in order to arrive in India

A normal tourist Visa is required to anyone who spends more than 72 hours in India. But, if there is any visitor who is planning for a time period of fewer than 72 hours, they will need a transit Visa which is made at the time of online booking of an flight ticket.

Foreign visitors can spend a maximum of 6 months in India. It depends on the country from which one is. It may be 3 months in some cases while in some, it may be 2 months. Multiple entry visas are in most cases and one can visit more than one time with the help of 1 visa.

One can obtain a 10-year visa for the United States. Whereas, 18 countries have a commitment of 5-year visas. The countries where it is a 5 years affair are Germany, France, Netherlands, Spain, Finland, Belgium, Chile, Mexico, Iceland, Switzerland, Norway, Japan, South Korea, Argentina, Brazil and Vietnam. To get Visas in some countries, one has to apply with the help of biometric applications in case of Tourist Visas. Tourist Visas are quite essential for your legal entry into another country.

One can stay in India for only 6 months in India after which they have to depart even if it is for a day. They can come back again within the same tourist visa. In case of a 5-year tourist visa, 3 months stay is permitted. The two-month gap between visa is removed completely from the system. Some types of visas are Student Visas, Business Visas, Research Visas, Journalist visas to name a few.

Now a day’s E visas have made it easy for people to apply for visas. Some of the certain rules to be followed are:

  • E visas are given for a lesser period of time for leisure or some kind of educational program or business meetings.
  • There should be 2 pages blank of the passport of the person travelling so that the stamp of Immigration Officer can be put at the right place.
  • One should bring sufficient money with them so that they do not have any problem in India while buying goods and kinds of stuff.
  • The individual travelling should have a passport separately so that they can acclaim an e visa from that itself.
  • The application for e visa should be applied 4 days before the date they are planning to reach India and it should be valid for 120 days the time they are in India.
  • Individuals should bring with themselves certain valid documentations like photographs and the passport which should mention the address of the traveller and his proper name. The black and white background photograph should match with the one present in the passport or else it will be rejected.
  • In accordance with the country they are visiting, one has 2.5% in case of excess of the bank transactions that they will do in India. And this has to be done 4 days before any bank transactions.
  • There are 24 airports which allow e visa facility in India and one can apply for an e visa for a maximum of 2 days. Triple entry of e visa is allowed only in case of a medical visa and the validation of e visa is 60 days from the time one enters India.

Cost of An Indian Visa application

The Price of Visa differs in case of countries. In the case of US the price of Visa goes up to $100 in case of 10 years Visa. E visa costs about $75 and it is for 60 days. There are some countries which have agreements with India because of which their visitors can pay less for their visas.

The government of India has chosen certain places from where foreign citizens can apply for Visa. Travisa and VSF Global are some places for processing of Visa. There is an online application which has to be filled in order to get a call for the visa process. 

Visas in case of restricted places

Apart from getting a Visa, Protected Area Permit has to be obtained in order to visit restricted places like Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, etc. If you plan for trekking, then only you will be allowed.
