Abhaneri is a village in the Rajasthan district of Dausa, located in the distance 95 km from Jaipur on the Jaipur-Agra Highway. Chand Baori is a colossal stepwell that is one of the most beautiful step wells in India.

The place is very popular. Samrat Mihir Bhoj, who was the Gurjar Pratihar King, is believed to have founded the village of Abhaneri. It was originally named Abha Nagri, meaning the “city of brilliance”, but with time it was changed to Abhaneri because of the mispronunciation of the name.
