India-Nepal Bus services restart after a suspension of 2 years

India-Nepal bus services

The latest news is that Indo-Nepal bus services are back after a two-year hiatus. As per the news reports, a private bus operator, with the help of North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC), has recently started the Siliguri-Kakarvitta-Kathmandu bus service. Firhad Hakim, the State Transport Minister, was present and officially inaugurated the bus service.

According to reports, the bus will run regularly, starting at the Tenzing Norgay bus terminal at 2 PM. It will travel approximately 615 km before reaching Kathmandu at 7 AM.

Tickets will be around INR 1500 per person. Speaking with media personnel, Mr. Hakim said he was happy to see the NBSTC start the bus service after two years. This will give Nepali and North Bengal tourism a boost, and it will also attract more tourists in the future. NBSTC will likely be forced to operate more buses to meet rising demand.

Hakim said that they still need the NOC from Bangladesh to operate the bus service between Siliguri and Dhaka in Bangladesh. Once they have permission, they will start the service soon.

Both sides feel that the bus service will benefit all and that everyone can afford the fares. According to the bus operator, Indo-Nepal bus services can also be used to facilitate travel for those who want to visit Nepal for religious and medical reasons.

Even though the Indo-Nepal bus service has been suspended for over two years, passengers can benefit from its resumption in many ways.
