To Boost tourism, the Philippine government announced that it will allow travellers who have been fully vaccinated into the country starting February 10, 2022. In December, the stunning island nation in Asia was set to reopen, however, it was scrapped as a result of the Omicron variant. Philippines has now announced that visa-free travel is now possible for citizens of 150 countries. China, Taiwan, and India are not included on the list.

Berna Romulo-Puyat said, “This will contribute significantly to job restoration, primarily in tourism-dependent communities, and to reopening of businesses that had previously closed.”

According to the government, quarantine requirements for returning Filipinos and foreign tourists will also be eliminated starting February 10. To qualify, they must all be vaccinated and have a COVID-19 test negative.

There are around 7000 islands in this archipelago nation, which are renowned for their white sand beaches and rich marine life. According to reports, Japan, South Korea, and China sent 83 percent fewer tourists to the country last year due to the pandemic.

According to Karlo Nograles, presidential spokesman, the tourism industry can now recover and will be able to contribute substantially to jobs, livelihoods, and economic growth in the country.

There have been more than 53000 deaths in the Philippines since the pandemic began. Around 3.4 million infections have been reported.
