Check-in process at Delhi Airport gets smoother with self-baggage drop

The Delhi Airport introduces a self-baggage drop to streamline the check-in process

For a comfortable and safe trip, passengers need to follow some rules given by their airlines. Checking your bags before you get on the plane is one of these important steps.

To make this easier and quicker, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport shared the news on Monday. They have started a Self Baggage Drop (SBD) service at Terminal 3.

The Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) said that the SBD will make dropping off your bags easier. It can also reduce the wait time by about 15-20 minutes, making the airport visit better for travellers.

The SBD can take care of three people every minute. This makes the whole bag check-in process at the traditional counters much quicker.

There are 14 self-baggage drop machines at Delhi Airport. This includes 12 that work by themselves and two hybrid ones. This makes the whole travel experience smoother for passengers.

How to Use the Self-Baggage Drop Service

The self-baggage drop service is easy to use and has two steps:

Step 1: Get your boarding pass and baggage tags from the Self Check-In kiosk. Make sure to attach the baggage tag to your luggage.

Step 2: Go to the SBD service, scan your boarding pass, tell them your luggage doesn’t have any banned or dangerous items, and put your luggage on the correct belt.

The self-baggage drop facility is easy to find at Check-in Row-P of Terminal-3.

Who Can Use the Self-Baggage Drop Service

Right now, only Indigo passengers can use the self-baggage drop service. But soon, five more airlines will let their passengers use this service, including Air India, Vistara, Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, and British Airways.

Also, after they test it more, the self-baggage drop service will be open to people travelling to other countries too.

In the end, Delhi Airport wants to make flying better for everyone. They showed this by starting the Self-Baggage Drop service. By using this new idea, the airport is showing that it wants to make checking in quicker and easier. This makes things more convenient and efficient for passengers.
