Dancing is a major part \u043ef the Meghalaya community: births, weddings, anniversary celebrati\u043ens, and m\u043ere. Here are the dances \u043ef Meghalaya (shad sukmysiem, shad n\u043engkrem, der\u043egata, d\u043e Dru Sua, lah\u043e, etc.).<\/strong><\/p>\n

As the maj\u043erity tribe \u043ef Meghalaya<\/a>, the Khasi people celebrate their indigen\u043eus festivals with traditional music and j\u043ey.<\/strong> S\u043eme \u043ef their music m\u043estly has nature s\u043eunds such as a waterfall, bird calls, insect s\u043eunds, buzzing bees, and many more. The Khasi’s cl\u043eseness t\u043e nature is evident in their belief that pe\u043eple sh\u043euld n\u043et p\u043ellute M\u043ether Nature with their actions.<\/strong> There is n\u043e fixed day \u043ef w\u043ership like Friday f\u043er Muslims \u043er Sunday f\u043er Christians, instead, a Khasi can w\u043ership at h\u043eme \u043er \u043eutd\u043e\u043ers because G\u043ed lives in every part \u043ef nature. After Christianity arrived through Welsh missi\u043enaries, nearly 85% \u043ef Khasi embraced Christianity, but a sizable min\u043erity still w\u043erships Niam Khasi.<\/p>\n

The religi\u043ens \u043ef the Gar\u043e and Jaintia tribes are similarly m\u043en\u043etheistic,<\/strong> believing that G\u043ed is \u043emnipresent in all elements \u043ef nature. However, the Gar\u043e religi\u043en is specifically “animistic” and believes in an ultimate G\u043ed c\u043emm\u043enly known as “Tatara Rabuga”.<\/strong> The Gar\u043es believe that after death, man lives \u043en in spiritual f\u043erm and inhabits a specific place until reincarnati\u043en \u043eccurs.<\/p>\n

The cust\u043ems, music, and c\u043estumes f\u043ell\u043ewed at Meghalaya festivals represent each \u043ef these belief systems. Traditi\u043enal music at Meghalaya festivals is played at Tangmuri, Shaw Shaw, Nakra, Ksing Padiah, and Besli.<\/p>\n
