COVID-19 travel rules scrapped by Hong Kong, Nigeria

There has been a recent update that will affect all visitors to Hong Kong. They will no longer be given an Amber code to enter certain places that they were previously prohibited from entering. As a result of this announcement by the Chief of Staff, John Lee, there will be a reduction in the usage of COVID-19, a government-mandated mobile application that has been criticized for its inefficiency.

The move puts Hong Kong in line with other countries that have relaxed travel restrictions in the same vein as the move Hong Kong is taking to relax COVID-19 curbs. Due to the increase in business and travel, the ‘amber’ code has been removed, which limited people’s access to bars and restaurants, which was in response to the increase in business and travel.

As reported, the move by the government to eliminate its mobile application for tracking mobility, which controlled access to clubs, gyms, and salons, followed mainland China’s elimination of the requirement.

The COVID-19 guidelines of Hong Kong had previously been criticized by diplomats, business organizations, and residents of the city, stating that the stringent COVID rules could impede the city’s competitiveness and status as a global financial center.

According to reports, strict travel regulations have had a negative impact on the economy of Hong Kong since the beginning of 2020. This is set to be altered for the good.

Additionally, Nigeria also removed COVID-19 requirements for testing international travelers and it’s also not required to wear masks during flights or inside airports according to a notice that was issued by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, passengers traveling to and from Nigeria are no longer required to take the COVID-19 vaccination regardless of their vaccination status.
