The Foreigner (Protected Areas) Act also requires foreign tourists to obtain a Protected Area Permit (PAP) in order to travel to some parts of India, such as Arunachal Pradesh. Hoteliers, tour operators, homestay operators, cab operators, and all tourism-related stakeholders will likely benefit from this decision as they have been experiencing hardships due to the suspension of the permits.

Due to the COVID-19 situation in the region, the state government announced it is lifting the suspension on reopening the tourism sector.

As part of this initiative, the administration will also offer an advisory on COVID appropriate behavior for travelers.
